Is it summer rim/tire time yet?

With the weather looking the way it does at the moment, I can't wait to put my summer rims/tires back on. But the weathernetwork sucks with predictions so what do you guys think? When is everyone planning to get rid of their winters?

I'm throwing my summer rim/tires on in another month or two... just to be safe Lol

had mine on this time last year but we also had the one week where it was in the 20's haha

the technical rule is that you should wait until it is consistently above 7C. that means looking at the long term forecast and seeing what temps are like. Summer tires (in general) are only better performing than winters/all seasons in temperatures above 7C, so you'd be risking anything else. I forgot where i read this before, but i wouldnt post it if it were credible. stuff about summer vs winter tire rubber compounds and effective working temps...


rule of thumb for me personally is to put them on easter weekend. 3 days off work, so put them on the saturday, and enjoy them sunday and monday Lol

the temp is supposed to dip back down next week, so i'd hold off a bit.

I would hold off till at least april for sure

im tempted to put on mine now:( the sun makes me want it back on!

^ exactly LOL, I have to find some new tires for my front rims so that should kill some time at least. but otherwise I know I'd be itching to put them on

I wanted mine on, but im waiting until april. I rushed to put em on last year, and we got snow two days later.

Ye... put my summers on early when I had the eclipse.... full on summer tires, had about 1mm of snow fall a day later.... tried to come to a stop at a red light and almost went through the intersection

I just drove through a mildly defrosting puddle on the ground and nearly lost it to the curb....I defiently say one more month!

im still hopin for early april. i think the snow we got this week was that last spell we always get after a warm weather stint.

my summers going on mid april =D just debating new tires or run one more season sigh....

Couldn't wait anymore pulled the trigger! Summers are back on.

Works out because I'm starting a new job in April and I won't have any time to get this done.

ya i'll be putting them on next weekend.
