Massive snag ... two steps forwards yesterday ... now gotta take like ten steps back!
Having an issue w/ the projector I mounted ... gotta remove seal and pull it out and diagnose it. Cutoff shield doesn't return to neutral after triggering high ... gets stuck halfway back. :(
On another note ... tinted halos w/ Nightshade ... turned out terribly blotchy ... removed it and tinted it w/ a thin layer of black primer ... looked way better, but both ways the halos lost a considerable amount of brightness, so took off the primer.
One halo in, doing some magic w/ another one (it'll be a surprise for when the headlights are finished). Tomorrow, I fix projector and glue inner shroud into place. If all goes well in fixing the projector, i can replace the shroud tomorrow night as well, then Friday/Saturday ... glue in remaining halos, and start putting some of the headlight back together again for testing. Smile

emoticon overload!!!

Ya, took apart headlight, pulled out solonoid, took it apart, then spent an hour trying to figure out what was wrong ... finally did. Apparently when I was hammering in the RV shield (cutoff shield, says RV on it for some reason), it bent a little, which was causing friction during rotation. Working good now!
Shroud goes back on tonight, gotta glue few more things in, and it's ready.
Then ... driver's side .... soooo close!! Very Happy

Tinted with NightShade vs Untintd:

Untinted (Left) vs Tinted (Right)

Pulled off bumper today (Thanks G for the call, helped tons!)

Tested headlights, they're super level, just need to be adjusted to aim a bit higher (No, there's no light in the highbeam projector, just a reflection from the flash, also booster is just powering the ccfls)

No pics of the cutoff, didn't have a proper wall to test it, but did check for levelness on a pillar about 20-25ft away. There's some colour along the edge, but that's probably b/c I modified the cutoff shield a bit.

Figured out some key details, helped a lot testing out the headlights. Still gotta open up the other side.
The top of the light, there's a yellow spot, not sure what's causing that, but it's also causing some yellow along the cutoff. The yellow is quite visible when you look at the light comming out of the projector. Going to test other projector today, figure out if its something w/ the projector, or the bulb, or something else.

Does anyone have any idea on how to colour tint a ccfl?

1. vinyl - wrap around your ccfls and you get a different colour output
2. window tint - same as before just wrapping it to change output
3. sharpies - colour your ccfls to the desire colour
4. dont use them at all THEY LOOK SICK ALREADY!

The red comes out pink ... wouldn't mind a slightly deeper tone, but without sacrificing too much brightness. Thanks for the comment! Very Happy

Vinyl not a good idea since headlights need to go into the oven.

Re: Juice's HID Retrofit Project

Quick question for anyone who can shed some light.
I test-fitted my headlight, and while doing so realized that I need to figure out a way to seal the back of the headlight where the bulb plugs in.
The stock headlights have a big rubber ring, and the opening is designed to fit the stock 9006 adapter ring ... however the plug for the HID is significantly smaller than the ring and there's a sizable gap.
Not really sure how to proceed in sealing up the gap ... there will also be some wires running through it for my halos. I can snap some pics of it later.

use the stock seals - use rubber bushings xD Laughing, cut insert, melt together?

or head back to the junk yard... and look at other headlights

That might be better than what I'm considering ... PVC cap, cut hole, run wires, seal gap w/ silicone. Not sure where to find a rubber bushing that'll fit what I need. Where would I find some?

Update, no pics.

Got a box of connectors, almost time to start slapping all the electronics together.
Unfortunately, I saw a box of 'headlight sealant' at crappy tire and thought, hrmm, i'll remove the old sealant and just use that so I get a good seal on the headlights to avoid moisture ... so I removed like 80% of the sealant (stopped at like 4am to sleep), went to buy sealant the next day and .... its actually a lens protector ... now gotta figure out what to use. G says silicone so I'm gonna look it up.
Still waiting on some bulbs in the mail ... stupid ebay. Bulbs might be too tall, but I'll figure it out.

Pics when I get my adapters done or headlight resealed, whichever comes first.

Lol, don't let my failings stop you, its easier than I make it out to be. This is my first attempt at this and I'm trying to do things 100% right first time around, so lots of planning and re-planning before doing anything.

Anyone who wants to attempt a retrofit, shoot me a PM and I'll give you some highly highly recommended tips to avoid any setbacks. LFMF Razz
