I just wanted to start a thread ... have my GT5 Collector's Edition sitting on my desk at work begging me to go home and play! lol

the game is awesome. so much going on I don't know where to start. forza is no competition.

Wow! GT5 is sick!! The Collector's Edition came with 5 bonus cars, and since I pre-ordered it at EB Games, I got 2 additional cars (a Nascar and a McLaren).
Found out some races have no restrictions ... Honda Fit vs Nascar?!? Needless to say, makes making money a little easier, at least off the start.

Two things though. There's a weird pixelation with smoke around the tires. Also having issues trying to play friends online.

Other than that, it's a ton of fun and look amazing!!

Tip: Don't forget to change your oil for newly acquired cars! Gives a small performance boost.

when someone is online join their lounge and have private races. haven't tried to go online in a random race yet.

I havent noticed the pixelation looks pretty smooth to me.

Only noticed it in the replay.

When trying to connect, I get 'Network Incompatible' when trying to join their game lounge ... wtf does that mean? :(
Gonna look it up later.

also the go karting is kinda cool in it , the nascar is as gay as i thought it would be , cant stand nascar

the game features is really no different then any other gt games , the modding isnt as in depth as most need for speed games or forza , the graphics are sick , pretty much the same as forza , think forza maybe a lil bit better , sound quality is sick , they got the sounds of the different cars down pretty good , wish the bov's on the cars were different car to car

one thing that bugs me is the massive amount of cars you have to buy to do races , its like every race you need a different car which makes it hard to start and finish one car with the amount of money you make off the early races , all in all real sick game tho

I will get this and compare with Forza, hope it's good for HD's sake. (Still think Forza is the shit, but I always liked GT games)

My opinions on GT5.

Sick game. I think I had things easy from the get-go though ... I mean ... who races a Honda Fit with a Nascar?
There are some weird graphical issues ... and I'm struggling a lot with a rally course. Dirt/Snow are easy, but for some reason the sector times are way off. How do I go from -3 seconds at the last checkpoint, to being 8 seconds behind during the last stretch?

Nascar ... ya, pretty much high speed circles, but with straights to make things easier!

I still can't get into an online match with my brother or cousin ... keep getting network incompatible errors.

Other than that, there are a ton of races on a lot of tracks. Got a sweet garage of cars, which I wish was a real life garage ... except maybe the Kubelwagon ... actually, I'd rip around town in that! hehe.

Also, Shane is totally right. Feels like it's just special even races where you spend a ton of money on one car, to win like 1/20th the amount you just spent. I don't see the progression of cars from level to level ... which brings me to another point. What is the real purpose of getting the licenses? I have iB now and I swear, there are no license restrictions, just level and car restrictions.

Beyond all that ranting, I love this game!! Despite whatever flaws it may have, it is still a ton of fun to play!!

6 years and 60 mil spent yet

- NO FUCKING BREAK UPGRADES????? WTF
-cant tune your turbos or anything power related , just suspension/lsd/awd
-cant do any body upgrades on alot of cars like lips
-cant upgrade rims on alot of cars
-you have to win paint to repaint a car , and once you use it its gone ...wtf??
-graphics are sick on some cars and others look like they are from ps2
- shadows on the ground look like a bunch of boxes like from sega genesis
-progress in terms of cars is real slow , every race you need a new car so this makes it real hard to start and finish a car , and the money you win from races is shit
- NASCAR why is this even in the game
-the rally is not realistic at all , when you start sliding your car comes to a stop
- over 1000 cars and 600 are cars no one will ever care about ,
- not all cars have the in car view, and the ones that do half look good and the other half look like crap
- sound quality is not the best from the cars
- cant race modify alot of cars
- whats the point in the liscence when you dont need them to race and they dont boost your driver lvl mush at all
- music in the game blows unless you like alot of jazz and classical

i can go on but ill stop , my thought on this game , as a game its self yes its good , but in reality is just another gt game , and based on the money spent and how long it was delayed and the big hype behind it , its a fail , i have more fun playing nfs games then this where i spend half the time doing boring races i dont want to do like a yaris race just so i can advance in the game

truck, I kept checking the used car lot for a Lightning ... only trucks I kept seeing were those stupid Midgets with like 22hp ... GARBAGE!!

totally agree with you on all those points Shane. I think when I finish this game, I'm gonna pick up NFS:HP ... at least there is a car progression with NFS games. You can buy one car, and race it ... then upgrade it and race it more ... then upgrade it more and race it more! I think maybe they're just trying to push b-Spec which I don't play. I watched my roommate play and the AI didn't listen to a single thing he was told. Slow down ... the guy guns it. WTF?
Still ... I can't help loving this game. I think it's because it's a GT game and I have such fond memories of playing GT1 and GT2 with my bro.

lol to help buy cars i sold cars so i cant do b spec , this going back to the money issue ,and you buy a game to play it not sit there and watch the game race while u hit a button and say speed up/slow down , i really dont know what they were thinking when they made this game to be honest , its almost not even a fun game to play when compared to other racing games out there , i expected so much more from this game and it really let me down , im almost ready to go buy xbox and get forza

the only real money you win is in the special challenges and half of those are gay , like the top gear test track , the elise has 0 traction yet if you hit one cone or bump someone you get dq'd , and the nascar ones , you get like half a lap to pass 5 other cars wtf is that , im almost ready to just put the game on the shelf and leave it

*Juice* You can't mod shit in the new NFS HP, the game is garbage IMO. Pure ARCADE racing, no where near a simulator. EX: Every car (even FWD) can drift, and all you need to do is enter a corner holding the brakes...Not the E-brake, cuz that will cause you to spin. Autotragic only, no option for manual shifting. And all cars remain stock, no modding period... :|

wait til you play NFS, Shane....you'll have more complains when it comes to upgrades...lmao

back to the gt5 hate , something i really do not understand is with the liscence tests and the special challenges , the other drivers smash into you smash you off the track into cones etc and then you get dq'd for it , wtf????

I'm having issues now with AI drivers pushing my rear bumper causing me to lose speed or spin out. WTF is up with that?!? That's only on license tests and the top gear sambabus challenge ... how fair is that?!? Also, the last go-kart race (Autumn Ring Mini) is IMPOSSIBLE!!!!! The handling on the go-kart is ridiculous! The traction fluctuates randomly. One second you're gripping like a king, the next you're spinning out of control. How do the AI go-karts remain in perfect control and maintain speed while off the track?!?

I'm ordering a set of those HKS PS3 controllers today. I hope they help ... at the very least, they look awesome! lol ... even if they're wired.
