question for all those that know about turbo setups
so im going to start looking for parts for a custom turbo build
not gonna go crazy cuz i will let the mechanic supply most of the parts but things i want to supply are
turbo
intercooler
bov
boost guage
question is
would a small 16g or a big 16 g turbo be better? im looking for quick spool for time attack
what would be an ideal size intercooler?
there are many bov out there , im looking for more of a fluttering bov , which bov's offer that type of noise or does that fluttering noise only come from compressor surge?
boost guage , imma jus get one
want it to sound somethin like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJlR_zIwmiE&feature=related
either way i have alot of research to do

Re: question for all those that know about turbo setups
thats probably an HKS SSQV BOV.
and a big 16g is a good choice for what you want to do. those turbos spool quick, can push up to 28 psi with meth , and flow alot of lbs of air, have one on the beater right now and had one on the previous car.
know a few guys that broke into the 10's with that turbo.

Re: question for all those that know about turbo setups
i should prolly talk to the guy boosting my ride before i start buying things , to make sure they will go with his plans
Re: question for all those that know about turbo setups
just make sure your turbo and turbo manifold will have the same flange to bolt on to. if you get a big 16g that will be a dsm flange. make sure that you can find a turbo manifold for your car with that flange. that is if you go with that turbo

Re: question for all those that know about turbo setups
wondering if i should just run a ralliart manifold and turbo , since its the same engine
Re: question for all those that know about turbo setups
The RalliArt turbo will work nicely but you won't get too much psi out of it safely, it's would still get you around 240HP. I seen a guy with one on a CVT tranny, and he was running only 6-7psi(CVT) and made 218HP.

evo x has bigger turbo and intercooler , i think i would have to build the engine better to run it proper , im looking to just get a start and build in the future , im aiming for around the 220-240whp mark for a start , which i know is possible from other kits i have seen , with only 8psi

from what i heard today everything is going to be custom , which is why i have to supply the turbo , if thats the case i will just get a big 16g which is what they run on stock early gen evos , i have to go see they guy and talk to him and find out what his plans are and go from there
Re: question for all those that know about turbo setups
Ive Never Had A lancer But Since Your Going With A Custom Turbo Setup Wouldnt It be Easier To Go With Just A T3 Turbo, You Can Run It Anywhere From 7 To 25lbs I Think, And Theres So Many Kits That Have it Im Sure Finding BOVs And Other Stuff Is Easy For It...Ive seen Them In Everything From civics To Mustangs And They Are Usually Pretty Cheap From Turbonetics Or Turbo XS, Just My 2 cents But Like I Said...In Not A Lancer Guy So Yall Would Know Better
Re: question for all those that know about turbo setups
yea im not gona boost no more , im just gona get my car tuned and run time attack with it , make the mustang my dd and save for a skyline , stickin with my original plan , just not worth the money boosting a factory n/a car especially a 4cyl
Re: question for all those that know about turbo setups
That's my plan. Use the Impreza until insurance goes down and get a WRX (. looks the same, more power .) or the STI (. .)
Not going to trade in for the RA?

they use a 16g from what I remember. don't know if its a big one or small one. but the engine in the lancers that are N/A cant do that much boost 16g small would be safe but large is better lol. got to tune it good!

I Cannot Remember If The Mag Said How Much He Spent Making It That Fast, But I Do Remember He Made Alot Of His Own Stuff. In The Pictures Of His Motor, The Intake Was A Box He Just Welded Up Himself....Stuff Like That. Heres The Link
