I wasn't involved too much until I actually had my own car. =P

But I've been interested in it, ever since I played Midnight Club 3... LoL.

hmm.. 25 years this summer.

I was street racing in Etobicoke and Miss. before allot of you were born. Fortunately back then allot of the border areas were not built up. wouldn't even try it now.

Most of the cars we used back then were R/J1 GTI/GLI's , 323 GTX's, dodge colt turbos, celicas, corollas, 280z's, FB's even the odd Alpha' spider and MG

I had a J1 ( Jetta) GLi , orange with black trima nd white interior.. awesome, at the time Neuspeed was one of the few bolt on option out there and 'European car' was a tuner mag of choice. had 15x7 with 225 rubber massive back in the day had it lowered 1".. Mosport used to run a GTI spec series back then and I used to get allot of my parts from the guys who ran there.. used to be a shop that did nothing but VW race cars out past erin mills so long ago I can't remember where exactly.. the 1.8L with jetronic ign and dual progressive TB was too much fun to tune.. first step was to reset the 2nd butterfly to open and mid throttle instead of top end.. BIG boost in power.

.. I have to say I haven't like any VW's since the original GTI/GLI's . They dropped the rabbit for the heavier Golf and new Jetta platform.. thing almost doubled in weight and didn't gain any power.. it was so bad that my NA 83' GLI would beat the crap out of a brand new corrado G60 all day and it just went downhill from there. Before the Golf all the Vw's were manual everything, brakes, steering even the sun roof was a manual crank.. it was Awesome and as light as a Ae86 or FB with room for 5 in it..
