My new 1.8t
Finally, after 1 month of driving a Kia Rio and 1 more month of driving my moms Caravan, my cheque finally came in from my insurance 2 weeks ago! So i picked up a 2002 Jetta 1.8t, its the 180hp model
Anyways, i love this thing, super smooth ride, nice pick up, feels faster than my eclipse, and its all black on black
Still deciding if im gonna go low n slow, or put money into the engine. So far leaning more towards Low n Slow though to avoid getting into trouble lmao
Anyways, im back on TTS and going to be coming out to the meets more often if theyre not too far from Brampton

^What he said, except I would add some bolt-ons (Intake/Exhaust) and a Diverter Valve for that added sound.

Re: My new 1.8t
thanks alot guys!
And about the drop and wheels, for sure! Im actually looking for a set of wheels now, cuz i cant stand rolling around on 15'' rims wrapped on 'winter hero' tires loool i just dont want to really cheap out on rims. (wanna buy once, and make sure i buy it right)
and as for the drop, i really wanna slam it, and i found coils that would give me a 3'' drop, but the damm roads in toronto are terrible :( so im still deciding on the drop.

Re: My new 1.8t
yea i know, thank god the times ive been to NY i noticed that the roads can really use alot of work asap before people start losing bumpers and shit . Solution for that though would be bags, but theyre so much $$$ :(
But yea il see how things go and eventually choose how low i can realistically go.

Re: My new 1.8t
Sweet ride!! Looking forward to seeing it's progress.
Toronto roads do suck, and I live downtown ... I'm pretty sure I hit my cat or something off a random bump on the road on Lakeshore near Jarvis. Ever since then, if I have to pass that way, I stick to the Gardiner.
I'd imagine NY or any other major city would have terrible roads. They're just not built to withstand the amount of traffic and governments are too cheap to keep fixing them until potholes start trapping dump trunks (which I hate more than potholes).

Re: My new 1.8t
thanks il keep updating the progress as soon as i begin full time work again
and yea its true. The only thing we can really do is keep our eyes on the road and try to dodge those sneaky shits lool.
Unfortunatly though for me the problem ive been having is driving on the highway. Ive already been hit with what seems like 10,000 rocks and already have 3 chips on the windshield because of it. -__-

Re: My new 1.8t
get a deflector on your hood, I have one, and it keeps 90% of stones away from my hood and windshield.

Re: My new 1.8t
dumptruck problems?
I know I have those ... my car is like a magnet to them ... it's like no matter what, if I have to drive somewhere, guaranteed I'll be behind one without a proper top to keep rocks and crap from bouncing out and hitting my car ... and I think they stalk me. When I was waiting to get my phone, I counted over 25 dump trucks pass in a span of about six minutes on the Gardiner.

Re: My new 1.8t
lmfao wow thats brutal! they're on the lookout for you lool
and it sucks, because even if i move away from them, like to the next lane, a rock still flies out to the side and BAM, windshield hit -__-"
oh and when getting off the 407 onto SB400, i smashed into a bird doing like 140ish. Scared me half to death lool.

Get the hood wraped if you don't like rock chips, I always get pegged with rocks from all sides...if that's any extra comfort

Re: My new 1.8t
yea little bastards lool
and about the hood wrap, the hoods not too big of a deal, i kinda learned to live with it, but its my windshield more than anything. I seem to be attracking flying objects at high speeds whenever im on the highway straight to my windshield -__-
and going to order my coilovers next week hopefully! problem is i think i have to go to Buffalo to pick them up, because the guy from the company told me it takes 2 month to get to Ontario, but like 6 days anywhere in the States :/ but yea 3'' drop coming soon hopefully!

Re: My new 1.8t
So I was bored today and kept thinking about something i could do to my car for now without burning a hole in my wallet, so i passed by EuroSpot and picked up a Dual Piston BOV. (replacing my current DV) got it for a great price and the shop was super clean+nice!
Anyways, finally finished installing it and i love it! im deff going to have to get a new turbo-back, then it would sound so nice
Heres a pic of the BOV
Pic of the old DV
Comparison of both
VW decided to use 'one time clamps' for im pretty sure all of their goddamned hoses. I spent about 1 hour trying to pry these little shits off (only 3 of them) the final one was the hardest and i was so fed up i decided to just take my grinder and get the job done Not the safest thing when working in a tight space, but hey, i did it the spanish way (ghetto) and it worked
A final look at the diff between the new BOV and my old DV
Had to run out to Home Depot because i bought hose clamps a size too small :( so it wasted my time and it got dark out, so the pics kinda crappy , but here it is installed.
If i get the car chipped itl sound alot better, but as of now, it already sounds sick
