Police on Vancouver Island say they are close to catching up with a motorcyclist seen on a YouTube video driving down a highway at nearly 300 km/h.

The video was shot from the driver's perspective, and shows the motorcycle darting in and out of traffic as the speedometer rises quickly.

An officer from the area said the drive, near Victoria, was extremely dangerous.

"If you watch that video I get a feeling of vertigo," he said.

An investigator has obtained the IP address of whoever posted the video and is now interviewing witnesses.

The driver of the motorcycle could face such charges as dangerous driving.

stupid. u can't see him, the bike,vins, plates etc. might be hard to charge him even if he uploaded the video. but if he admited that it was him hes going to get fucked over. ive personally upload vids like this on youtube, but none of it was me in the vids.

guys an idiot for doing that in traffic either way. take it to the track or country roads that are open.

Way too risky for my blood... however must be a great rush, I never ever went nearly as fast when I used to ride. I'm sure with the right lawyers and such he won't face serious charges, can't really prove who's the rider, all the have is an IP address and video, can't say who's riding, unless I over looked something!

They have seized the bike. It was some 25yr old guy that has over 27 drivinf related offences and has no liscene right now anyway. Bike was in his moms name as well. She was fined $1500 so far.
