Best insurance for modded cars?
So buddy of mine got rear ended the last snow storm we had, and the rear ender wanted to go through insurance. Long story short they saw my friend's car (AM bumpers, spoiler, lowered) and now they want to drop his coverage. Just wanted to know if you had any suggestions on good companies that are OK with cosmetic mods at the least (hes OK with raising it up again), TD is the one that's dropping him and I told him to check statefarm and aviva.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Best insurance for modded cars?
wow crazy story. I only know a few ins co that do custom cars and classics too.I never had any problems with modding a car(lowered/hp/paint) if the parts are made for the car it should be fine (your just upgrading the stock parts and using them for what they are made for) not like the car is custom built.it should not have no issues being covered.he pays his ins bills they should cover it bottom line. im with Aviva long time with no issues on lowered /higher hp ..ect just keep the bills of the parts you put on for proof that that's what the car has on it. I just know they don't do RHD cars .

TD will screw you if you have any aftermarket parts and try to make a claim...

^ Yup, they saw his AM bumper and were like we don't fix AM stuff, took pics of everything. They're giving him money for an OEM bumper, but now want to drop him so hes trying to figure out what to do. So if you make a claim with TD go stock prior =P

My AZ-1 is through Aviva. I've never had to make an insurance claim on any car though so I can't say anything about that side. I do know TD just raised the insurance on my BMW by $800 this year (looking for new insurance right now actually cause screw that)

Get in touch with an insurance broker, and tell them what you are looking for.

Re: Best insurance for modded cars?
Talked to a broker today, got a new insurance policy at $1550/year with bel-air. My renewal with TD was $2872/year. Still no idea why my TD insurance went up so much, 100% claim / ticket free since forever. Of note though was Aviva quoted at $4200+ / year on the BMW >.<
