2009 Subaru Impreza 2.5i (stock)
So, I'm not as big a petrol head as others here, so I just know what the end result should be, but how I get there is all about the reading I hear.
Nothing done to it as of yet. Borring, sure, who wants to read about a stock Impreza anyways?
So, I might as well give up the goods already and say that it's the best I could do what with insurance at what it is (. and in my case, it's CRAZY.. Know what I did, but, don't see why it's like that still.. Fucked .) Anyways, Do want WRX.. But that's next car, let them fight it out with Mitsu some more. So what is on the agenda exatally? Looks for the most part.. I've seen the stock engine will blow if you put a turbo on it, so that's out (. that's why you buy the WRX or STI anyways .) Daily driver with the weekend racing go. It won't pull the wrincles off your face like Ruckus's skyline, but it'll make a passenger go white knuckled
Well, I'd like to get the rims and rubber changed. 1 set for all season (. what I have now probably .)
Another set for summer only. (. Cue Sponsors .) I dig the look of the XXR 525. Not 100% on the all black (. hard to keep black I hear .) Or the silver/black/red as it's about what my car is.
Tires, no clue.. Don't know enough about the rims to think much about them..
I just know I'm putting my pennies away (. and have been for a while .)
Any ideas?
I have to take my car in to get serviced again, so I'll go peek under the hood of a WRX to check out the strut bars, can't see there being too big a difference.
And of course the coilovers.
As you can see it can go lower =)
Toying with the idea of a cold air intake and the exaust, but those can come later.
PS. My car is on a boat.

Re: '09 Scooby
I saw that and thought about it, and it's totally possible, I saw a lot of stuff for WRX/STI and was going to ask if they would fit the non, but I guess I answered my own question when it's almost the same =)
Have to get the front bumper fixed before I do that, but hopefully I have the funds for the 1 year. You know i will. Thanks.

AS GOOD AS COLD AIR INTAKE
But there's something that screams RICE when you think that your "cold air intake" is the stock box, with the lid removed..
I've been toying with the idea of doing a full out engine swap with a WRX.. I think the STI is the 6 speed.. But that's loong down the line.

Don't remember where the thread went where Juice showed off his mount, and I spent today doing one up also.
Just need to do a little more fiddling with it
Same deal, goes around the pillars on the head rest. The foam is just to protect the bars on the headrest. Downfall is it adds just a little bit to the "jiggle", but it has yet to be road tested for quality.. Rather than hooks I have the full U-bolt
With the left over piece I'm going to try adding another bracket and attach the camera as if the passanger were just holding the camera. Should be far more stable and useable for angled towards the driver where this is more a straight out the front/back.
This is the view out the front I get. A little low, yes, but I haven't had any time to road test it, to see what sort of vibrations I get, and if the video editing software has a reliable stabalizer. I'll get video on my way to KC and edit it when I get home. So I'll know, but total cost on it was under $60.. I have another piece of tubing, and think I may do one that connects the front 2 seats, possibly being more stable, and also being able to elevate the camera more or use a riser.
Also to pull the front seat up and put the camera out the window
Now that would be a good shot.. all 20+ cars going past
Juice - Me and you should go into production.. =)
And I found a place for the name
I think it looks good there.. (. it rounds a lot on my hood where the lancers are more straight .)

And the red interior lights are siiiiick.. I may have to chop a little more of the plasic off the front to get the last 2 LED's to shine through
May also double up on the rear..
You'll see it Wed..

Sweet looking mount! Last night I was trying to figure out how to make a cheap dash mount (there's a sponge mount but I want something a little more secure).
I'm thinking of trying to incorporate an arm extension to my current mount to bring the camera forward. I still have a 2ft piece of aluminum tubing leftover.
Can't wait to see the red lights and sick decal placement!

Neither did Larry where I parked.. It's all about lighting.. daytime, clear, night, it's stealthed.. I like it =)
CAMERA MOUNT TEST #1
I'd say shy of the lens cover clicking against the bar, that's the only problem with it.. Going to put some heat shrink over the U-bolts and add some washers see if that doesn't snug things up so it can be placed higher.
Going to have a step by step as I build Ty one. (. 09 Impreza and 09/10? Lancer have the same distance between posts on the head rests .)
And also one that is for a passanger view .. You'll see..

Re: '09 Scooby
I'm pretty sure all cars with adjustable headrests have a universal spacing.
They sell headrests with built-in screens for dvd players, and they're supposedly universal.
If not, we can always widen the holes and make them width adjustable.
Note: won't fit on racing seats!

Re: '09 Scooby
Yeah, you can add more holes, but if there's a space that needs one between 2 holes it won't work.
I didn't have it up as I wanted to see quality and if it shook, as if I left the foam padding, I could raise the mount and also replacing the foam with something else (. heat shrink .) extra washers giving it the ability to sit higher and see over the dash.
Tomorrow is build day pt. 2
And Juice, if you ever need a place to work, more then welcome to come over and use whatever I have.

Re: '09 Scooby
I figure if you cut oval holes instead of just a circle, the u-bolt should be able to slide left/right, for headrest spacing adjustments.
I might try turning an old desk lamp into a mount, just for the adjustability.

Re: '09 Scooby
Yeah, I could see that working .. Would take a little work to get it to work, but could do.. It's just as easy to make up the main part of it, then just drill the holes once you get the headrest or have the car to prototype it out.

Re: '09 Scooby
Made my extension ... hopefully it works out. I still need to drill holes into it so I can also use it as a second headrest mount.
