New Exhaust ... Stock Resonators
so I got my muffler put on at GT yesterday ... exhaust sounds awesome and I get a bit of that sweet gurgle sound sometimes ... issue is it's kinda loud. Maybe I'm not used to the sound from having an aftermarket exhaust, but I was wondering ... when I had the car on the hoist, there were three canisters between the headers and the rear axle. The first one, obviously, was the cat. The next two I was told were resonators. One kinda small one, and one slightly larger one.
Would swapping out one of those resonators for a bigger one help me bring the noise level down? Right now I really like the tone, but it's loud and there's a crazy drone some at certain speeds. So nervous I do 60km/h in 5th just to keep the noise low.
Any insight or suggestions?
I'm gonna go to GT next week to see about getting a resonator swapped out, but not sure if that will really make a difference.

Re: New Exhaust ... Stock Resonators
yes it will quiet it down , go with a 22inch res which is the biggest you can get , i have one on my car from magnaflow , but with exhausts on lancers they are loud and always have that drone , especially when the revs are coming down around 3 k i find its the loudest , it should quiet it down but i wouldnt expect it to be a huge difference ,

Thanks for the tip ... that's what I was told to do, swap out the smaller one for a big 22in resonator. Guess you'll all hear it tomorrow.

Re: New Exhaust ... Stock Resonators
you should just do a cat back , with adding that big of a res there isnt alor of pipe left anyways , check mine on wednesday if you havnt already gotten it done by then
Re: New Exhaust ... Stock Resonators
I'm planning on going on Monday, since I have the day off. Yay memorial day!!
It's pretty much going to be a catback anyway ... Lancer has super straight pipes as it is, and resonator is going right after the cat. I'll post some sound vids when I get back ... stepping out to pick up one last thing from NextMod.

Re: New Exhaust ... Stock Resonators
So another day another problem ... I put a nice big 22" resonator in and it toned down my exhaust some ... saw a slammed Camry slide on the lift half a dozen times .... quite interesting to see.
On my way out this morning, I noticed a knocking sound comming from my front passenger side suspension. Went to NextMod, they told me to get it checked at a shop, so I went to see my mechanic. Suspension is bad. Jacked up the car, took out the coil ... reinstalled it ... still knocking sound. Adjusted damper control ... still knocking. Sounds terrible ... especially noticable at slow speeds. :(
Then while my car was sitting for a while, there's this loud pop sound from my rear driver's side. No idea what it was, but heard it twice ... once before getting the front coil looked at, once after. Freaking the hell out of me!! Tires are fine ... gotta figure this shit out. Pissing me off too.

Re: New Exhaust ... Stock Resonators
Sounds sorta like this video ... saw a solution, gonna try it out tonight.
If that doesn't work, it's back to NextMod then to their distributor ...

Re: New Exhaust ... Stock Resonators
Woot! I fixed my coil!
Turns out there's one nut under the damper control that came a little loose, just popped off the damper control, tightened the nut, but damper control back on, and it's smooth as silk!
Then I went to CT to buy a new cone filter (one of those Ractive Tornado filters), but they only had it in blue ... instead I bought like $100 worth of cleaning supplies and new wiper blades.
Got rim cleaner, foaming tire shine, waterless wash (just gonna use it for bug/tar), some waterless hand cleaner (because my hands were gross after "shining" my engine bay), and some washer fluid.
