Let the build begin
Hey guys so took a few pictures last week promised myself to post it up so here goes.
I started with a piece of wood and a piece of cardboard and after a few weeks of reading:
Traced the outline of the bumper then cut it out!
A quick test fit.
AccXess also stopped by tueday night and helped me to save some weight...majority of the panels are out the only things left are the door skins and the dash. Few tabs which seem to poke out from everywhere need to be grinded off but that will be done hopefully by the end of the week!
Back to work I go!

Re: Let the build begin
oh it'll be there...will make every single OTA event....only thing I can't take is another motor build so hoping it holds together for atleast 10k....time will tell I suppose!
Re: Let the build begin
I was checking out your blog, nice setup you got there! What work have you got done to the motor? If its fully built with quality parts you should be able to hold down 650whp all day long on C16 with a good tune

Re: Let the build begin
Marco at Magnus built my motor and as far as I'm concerned what he says goes....I need alot of help with suspension setup I wanted to try run a 255 Hoosier in a 18 but can't afford 5g's in tires for the season and two sets of 18" rims.... Brake ducting and splitter mounting I will start on over the next few nights. Accxess should stop by and deal with door cards and electrical Tuesday night I think....
Order of operations is. Get race tune sorted out then deal with power steering.
Followed by cage, accusump and fire suppression.
Rear sway bar and end links. Maybe weld in some chassis braces to save money on buying it.
get a helmet and then save for truck and trailer.
race gas is just shy of 2.80 a liter and I get a 125kms on a 50k tank when punishing it....so need to watch the mileage and spending but as long as the motor holds together should be a front runner. have a second place is first loser mentality so definetly going out to win and not just drive around.
Splitter is finished will post some pics up in the next few hours!

Re: Let the build begin
So far I haven't really run into too many problems so I'm sure mounting this will be an absolute pleasure.
Wasn't a hundred percent the shape I had in mind but impressed at how well the symmetry worked out. I'll be honest I tried a saw for about 30 seconds and then pulled out the angle grinder!
This is where the month of surfing the web came into play...alot of looking at WTAC cars and the new m3 DTM release as well as the audi DTM. The piece I created sticks out 2" on either side at the widest point of the bumper cover and 6" in front of the bumper shadow(thinking little excessive but undecided at the moment)
Off to home hardware after work tomorrow. Lets see what I find to hold this up.
Deciding to run 15's means I still have an 1" of drop left in the coilovers that I need to come down and I think I will hang the splitter about a 1" lower than the bumper cover and build up something to take up the space in between the splitter and the bottom of the bumper cover....maybe incoporate some brake ducts into it.(thinking flexible plastic and mold in some yogurt containers for brake ducts...high temp hose is going to be pricey:(
More to come in the next few days...

Re: Let the build begin
yeah contemplating dimensions in my head....can always make a trial one out of plywood...not sure how beneficial it will be without flat bottoming the car and also the blue scooby has a fuel cell which gets rid of the gas tank being in the way....I'm thinking plastic at a later date for splitter but let's see how long it last before I start taking bits off of it.

Re: Let the build begin
Yeah just afraid to invest huge dollars into something so close to the ground...my exhaust manifold is in the way in one area which is why I have decided to try and hang it....haven't even jacked up to figure out where I can attach too so should be very interesting!

Re: Let the build begin
that's out of my pay grade with everything else that needs to be done...if apr wants to give me a splitter and wing and sticker up my car and give me cash rewards for putting it on the podium that I'd be down for....it's the deal that sailun tires off so it's not too shabby if only they had slicks:(
Re: Let the build begin
ooooh let the dealing begin
also to make that out of fiberglass is pretty easy

Re: Let the build begin
Just checking in after forever...blew my motor at Mosport a few months ago just as I was getting ready to tune on C16...oh well atleast it's winter and I got plenty of time to rebuild and worry about it over the cold months.
