OH guys, somethings wrong with my car....

I go to turn the car on sometimes, I hold down on the clutch and I turn the key...and all power just disappears =/

So if there was no car for me to get a jump from....I was bored'n hopeless so I connected the jumper cables to the battery and I tapped the other end (that should connect to the other car) together - and the car was workign again.

This has happened like 4 times already.

And the last time it happened I went for a whole 15min drive so the battery should've had plenty of charge

Any idea why the power keeps dying? -- Even the fog-lights which are directly attached to the car battery won't turn on.

if it is the battery - does anyone know where i can get a good one for a low price?

how much should that installation cost btw? any ballpark figures?

lets say ur get a boost from somebody & when u have the cables on (car runs)
& when u take cables off (car stops) usaly means alternator is going & cant hold charge for ur battery.
i had somthng like that happen to me in my buick & it cost me $125 .
if it is u can put on ur self it is eazy .
take belt off undo alternator(bolt on new alternator lift it up and tighten bolt back on)
put belt back on & ur good to go.

i hope this is what it is maybe u should get it chequed out 1st just to see b4 you buy a new alternator.

That'd be great man - I'm at Victoria Park'n Finch but I don't mind driving a bit if it'll save me some money.

Oh and when i was getting a jump from my friend, my car made the weirdest wheezing noise....well wheezing or constipated....one of the two.

And before I get a jump, if i have the door open - the 'door ajar' light goes on, then dims out and just keeps fading in and out. - I was driving after I got a jump, and the radio kept shutting off.

btw, you know the numbers on a tire? 215/40R18...- '40R', the tire profile... whats usually recommended?

If you can't get it started and running semi-reliably, get it towed Nothing worse than breaking down in the middle of a Toronto road. If you don't have CAA, get it It will come in handy at some point and it's not too expensive!

I have CAA - Had 2 free tows.....I used one when the slave cylinder on my car died and I used one when I was in my friends ride'n it broke down. And thanks justin, I appreciate it.

The alternator failing started happening after I jumped a guys toyota rav4 at the swimming pool.

My car was turned off, I hooked up our cars - and before I could get my car started, the other guy hopped in his and started up his car....(and failed)

could that have done any damage?
